Hated But Still Art Worthy

A painting by Adolf Hitler sold for almost $15,000 (click read more)







The watercolor paintings was some of the 15 items of Hitler's art being sold at a recent auction house Mullock's of Shropshire. Together, the artworks by the Nazi leader fetched almost $120,000! which was much higher than expected. The auction also includes dozens of items related to Hitler's time as leader of Nazi Germany -- including documents from concentration camps where those deemed "undesirable" by the Nazis were imprisoned, sterilized and murdered. It's kind of hard to understand why art collectors would purchase these paintings from a man whose views were skewed and unreasonable, but then again he is part of history as an influential NAZI leader. Waterslide Sink

The Abisko Washbasin from Eumar is a sculptural sink to add 'fun' in your bathroom (click read more)








The Abisko washbasin captures the freshness of mountain streams as water cascades down the length of the sink to slip away down a discreet floor-level grill. This is what designers Johan Kauppi and Lars Sundström wanted to capture. I really like this concept as it does not lean towards the typical cylindrical shape sink. If anyone had this in there home I'm pretty sure it'll add some uniqueness that no other house has.

Burn Baby Burn

This is not a new type of graffiti style but Ellis Gallagher from New York City perfected his love of setting his writings on fire which leaves an impressive before and after effect. Some of his pieces are even being showcased at the Hollowood (not Hollywood) show at the Carmichael Gallery in LA, till the end of April. His pieces will be presented alongside other 'big-name' graffiti artists including Poster Boy and Zeus (one of the greatest of all time). Check out more about the exhibit HERE

At MAD (museum of art and design) in NYC the exhibit 'second lives: remixing the ordinary' has been extended to April 19 (click read more)









The exhibition includes objects and installations made from items such as vinyl records, eyeglasses, dog tags and plastic utensils and features works from 50 international established and emerging artists. artists include:ingo maurer, tejo remy, the campana brothers, stuart haygarth, do ho suh, jean shin and tara donovan. It's An Illusion

Designer Itay Ohaly has created a great table titled 'interlock' (click read more)







This is made from an acrylic sheet and wood. The project examines the possibilities and potential embodied in connection between mold and raw material, using thermoplastic board processing. The final, one off connection, derives out of the manipulation between the two materials. one changing the shape of the other, while the other grips and interlocks with the first. Hence the name 'interlock', at first I thought it was plastic in the middle but its really glass what an illusion check his site HERE

More Than A Museum

The museum of tolerance renovation by Yazdani Studio is located in Los Angeles, CA... (click read more)








Simon wiesenthal center, one of the largest international jewish human rights organizations worldwide, selected the yazdani studio to renovate and expand the museum of tolerance in los angeles. key components of the renovation include: exhibit spaces, two theaters, a children’s multi-functional learning center and multi-purpose rooms. the 13.5 million USD renovation was completed in the summer of 2008 and the expansion is currently under design.

The interior design association (IIDA) even chose this museum as one of the six winners in the 36th annual interior design competition. I really want to see the color changing walls in action, I bet it adds a lot more to the atmosphere.

This is not your average dining room chairs. The HIL Chairs are made from black or colored acrylic and acrylic glass; and will be made in two versions, each available in 7 colors. The main features are the transparent seat and the reflective surface of the backrest. Great concept design wonder when they will be sold to the public?

Straight from Rhode Island, Ara Peterson used laser cut birch wood and acrylic paint to create these pieces that give mind-bending 3-D optical illusions. And his website AraPeterson.com is cool but makes me dizzy.
